BURY residents have been issued with a "don't lag behind" warning when it comes to insulating pipes in their home.
North West Water has urged householders to take steps to properly insulate pipes when frost takes a grip during the winter.
Bursts occur when poorly-lagged pipes become frozen and then thaw when the temperature rises.
Customer services director Gary Dixon said: "It takes very little effort to insulate pipes, tanks and cisterns.
"Prompt action now could prevent the damage and inconvenience a burst pipe can cause."
