BUSINESS managers turned the spotlight on how successful, or otherwise, they are during the latest in a series of Investors in People Network breakfast meetings.

Bosses from across East Lancashire were asked how effectively they are measuring their own management success during the event at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton-le-Moors.

The event showed how business success is based on a clear and shared vision of what the organisation is about, constant attention to detail and having staff who are willing to change.

Guest speaker Geoffrey Leigh, of specialist training provider Instep, made sure delegates went away armed with techniques to measure and improve their effectiveness.

ELTEC's workforce development director Harry Buls, said: "Whether organisations are committed to the Investors in People standard or not, in order to grow and prosper, it is vital that they benchmark their management standards.

"It is the only way you can be sure that you are getting the best out of all your resources, especially your workforce.

"Over 800 East Lancashire organisations have chosen to benchmark themselves against the national Investors in People standard. In many cases, this has given management teams a better idea of how they can improve their own skills and functions."

The next Network event will be held on February 1 and will cover time management.
