WE read the continuing saga of Carl Fogarty with astonishment -- that he did not know who Baroness Barbara Castle is, even though she was our Member of Parliament for more than 30 years (LET, November 28).
Mr Fogarty has obviously been affected in some way by speeding around the world on his motor cycle.
He complains that the honours he feels ought to be given to him have not been forthcoming. The fact is that what he has done for Ducatti of Italy far exceeds anything he has done for Blackburn.
Mr Fogarty also complains at the lack of recognition given to the late Jack Walker. May we point out that Mr Walker, in contrast, never expected any honours in return for his generosity. He was happy to give and not receive.
We suggest at the top of Mr Fogarty's Christmas list should be a book on the history of Blackburn. Hopefully, he will realise that whatever your achievements, it is an honour to be given a civic medal.
