A HOMELESS man looking for somewhere to stay the night ended up being arrested after he turned up at a vicarage.
Burnley Magistrates heard that Aaron Johnson, 26, banged on the door of St Mary's Presbytery, in Yorkshire Street, Burnley.
The occupants contacted police as they feared for their safety.
Johnson, of no fixed address, was bound over in the sum of £50, for six months, after admitting breach of the peace.
Lesley Williams, prosecuting, said officers were unable to calm the defendant down and he became aggressive towards them.
Johnson had been resident at a hospital in Yorkshire under a hospital order but staff there said he was no longer in need of treatment.
He had nowhere to go.
Neil Cronin, defending, said Johnson accepted he had caused a breach of the peace but it had not been intentional.
His intention had been to find somewhere to stay and he had thought the church was a safe place.
Unfortunately it wasn't.
The defendant had been discharged from the hospital and staff had said he needed no further medication.
