IAN Austin could still be on his way to Haslingden as their new professional.
The 34-year-old, who was born in the town, has revealed that the club have approached him regarding the 2001 season.
But 'Oscar', who this week signed a new contract with Lancs, is unsure of his availabilty.
"Haslingden have approached me but I have told them I can't do anything until I have got things sorted at Lancs," said the former England international, who is contracted to play only one-day games at the red rose club next season.
A possible stumbling block will be his availability on Sundays, when Transco Lancashire League games are played.
"The way the one-day games worked out last year I would have missed three games because of Sunday matches, but with us getting relegated there are a lot more Sunday games this time.
"That will obviously throw up difficulties. But if I am only going to play one day games at Lancs I have spare time in the week to come down and work with teams and the juniors.
"Whether Haslingden have made enquiries elsewhere I don't know. They have obviously got a deadline and they can't wait around for me forever. I am sure I am not the only option they have."
Any agreement between Haslingden and Austin would need the green light from Lancashire before it could go ahead.
