THIS was a good win for a well-disciplined Pilks side with tries coming from Dean Halliwell (2), Gary Philbin and Chris Canning.

The Star Inn man-of-the-match went to Ian Langley with Gary Philbin, Tony Hill, Andy Parr and Ashley Stewart also playing well.

Wigan St Judes u/14s 22 Pilks 22

Pilks set up a good lead in the first half but lack of concentration in the second allowed St Judes to go ahead before a late try ensured the points were shared.

Tries were scored by G. Pinder, J. Smith and St Helens Motor Auctions man-of-the-match R. Griffiths who also added the goals. Mark McKeegan also played well on his debut.

Pilks u/12s 36 Folly Lane 6

Pilks got their season back under way following three weeks off due to the weather with a victory over a much-improved Folly Lane outfit.

The winners were best served by man-of-the-match Luke Smith who helped himself to two tries. Half-backs Andy Bacon and Greg Smith shared the coach's award with stand-off Smith also bagging two tries, while Mark Briody (try) and Dave Mason shared the top tackler award. Recs' other try-scorers were Daryl Craine, Adam Harris and Karl Foster.

Martin Hutton, Simon Penketh and Phil Henry also impressed.

Chorley Panthers u/11s 20 Pilks u/11s A 28

This was a tremendous team effort against a big Chorley side with Pilks' tries coming from T. Connick (3), M. Cottam and J. Atkinson.

Corus Building Systems awards went to performers of the week, S. Keane and T. Riley, coach's award went to D. Travis and J. Atkinson, top tackler was S.Pennington and the man-of-the-match, sponsored by Joe Walsh, went to M. Cottam and T. Connick.

Pilks u/8s 44 Halton Hornets 32

In an entertaining game, Pilks ran out worthy winners against a strong Halton team.

Try scorers were Sportsline man-of-the-match R. Williams (5), coach's award winner A. Frazer (3), debutant and most improved J. Reid (2), and strong-running forward L. Joyce.

Other good performers were top tackler M. Foreman, joint unsung heroes R. Saunders and T. O'Neale, M. Donegan and G. Dugdale.

With only 10 fit players, workmanlike performances from Alex Stuart and

Leon Tatlock and excellent efforts from the ever-improving Liam Powell,

Daniel Wright and Chris Simmons built the foundations for an excellent Pilks

victory.

Man-of-the-match Patrick McCormick (4 tries) led from the front and contributions from Jamie McCabe (3 tries), Ben Tatlock (3 tries). Daniel Anders (2 tries and Jonathan Foster (2 tries) turned it into the best attacking performance of the season.
