THE Sharks started well but were down 2-0 at half-time. In the second half Liam MacDonald and Ben Brindle passed well together and Jake Forshaw completing the scoring threesome. The Sharks were awarded a penalty, which Jake missed and in the dying seconds FC scored. Man of the match for the Sharks was goalkeeper Matthew Chip.

THORNTON CLEVELEYS U10s A 2 FC RANGERS A 1

FC RANGERS took the lead in the first half with an effort that gave Ben Whelan no chance. But Adam Richardson converted a Mark Wild cross to send the teams in level at half-time.

In the second half the Tigers could not find a way past Rangers defence and keeper, and were kept on their toes by Rangers' counter attacks. Three minutes from time Mark Wild on the right fed Adam Richardson a mean ball to bag his brace and win the points.

THORNTON CLEVELEYS U10s B 1 FC RANGERS B 1

A PULSATING match was the Lions take advantage of the wind in the first half to make a lot of good chances which they failed to convert until Dane England scored. In the second half Rangers put the Lions under the cosh. Rangers bagged their equaliser eight minutes into the second half. As Rangers faded the Lions might have stolen it with Mark Lord and Dane England both going close. Man of the match Robbie Highfield. THORNTON CLEVELEYS U11s 3 FOXHALL 3

THORNTON took the lead with a brilliant run through the Foxhall defence by man of the match Jake Macdonald. Foxhall equalised, but within minutes Thornton went 2-1 up courtesy of an own goal from a Nathan Cowgill cross. In the second half Foxhall went 3-2 up, but Thornton pressured the Foxhall defence and kept the keeper very busy. Alex Edwards finally got the equaliser deep into the half.

FOXHALL soon opened their account only for Sam Gordon to reply almost immediately with a well struck goal from distance.

The deluge which greeted the second half for once wasn't rain but, to the visitors delight, goals. The spirit which typifies Thornton's performances surfaced and they got back to 4-5 with goals from Matthew Ogden (2) and Mark Adams, the pick being a free kick from Ogden. Foxhall secured the win with a sixth goal. Man of the match for Thornton was the hard-working Mark Adams.

A GOOD performance by Thornton against the league leaders. In an even first half Thornton failed to take their chances and found themselves 3-0 down at the interval. Thornton battled hard in the second half and goals from Sean Vaughan and Adam Stanley on his debut, were no more than Thornton deserved. THORNTON CLEVELEYS U14s 3 FOXHALL 4

THORNTON had a great start with an early goal from Chris Bowe. The home side continued to dominate the first half, but was unable to finish one of their many chances. Jamie Whitewood scored a second half penalty to increase Thornton's lead to 2-0 before FC scored four goals in 10 minutes. Thornton battled on creating more chances and a goal from Chris Brundish halved the deficit but came too late to effect the result. Man of the match was Paul Barnes.

THORNTON ran out easy winners against a gutsy under-strength Fleetwood Gym side. Goalkeeper Adam Holiday playing at centre forward scored his first goals for the club in a game played in good sporting spirits.

THORNTON CLEVELEYS U17s 2 FLEETWOOD GYM 1

ONCE they started playing their passing game Thornton took the lead when the Rawcliffe brothers Jason and James worked on an opening and James Rawcliffe finished superbly giving the keeper no chance.

Thornton's second came direct from a free kick when Dean Hoogerwerf floated into the top corner. In the second half, Gym came out strong and scored from a corner. The Thornton defence stood firm and Craig Whitewood went on a solo run and finished with a superb strike. Man of the match was the smallest person on the pitch Jamie Hastings who was outstanding in midfield.
