THE St Helens Primary Schools football team scored their first league victory in their fourth Vernons Merseyside League fixture, keeping a first clean sheet into the bargain, with a commanding a 4-0 win over Skelmersdale.
Oliver Mitchell (St Peter's, Newton-le-Willows) scored a hat-trick and Daniel Lynch (St Thomas of Canterbury) completed the scoring.
Another outstanding performance at the centre of defence earned Martin Waring (St Teresa's) the man-of-the-match award.
Meanwhile, the under 15s went down to a disputed only goal of the game against Wirral in a tense Merseyside League game at Ruskin Drive.
And in a high-scoring encounter the under 14s went down 6-3 to Kirkby-Knowsley on a pitch that wasn't suit to flowing football.
