West Park 2nd XV 15 Orrell 2nds 49
ALTHOUGH well beaten by a strong Orrell second string containing three former Park 1st teamers in Jon Duncan, Jim Keulemans and Rob Hitchmough, the Park youngsters deserved credit for a courageous display.
A Matt Kew penalty gave the home side an early lead but Orrell monopolised possession to take a 22-3 lead by half-time.
Park scored two late tries by Ryan and Wilson, with Kew adding a conversion, only for Orrell to add 27 points to run out impressive victors.
Home skipper Mark Potter could be justifiably encouraged by his relatively inexperienced side in which several players may soon be required for senior duty.
Park suffered an injury blow after their win over Vale of Lune when goalkicker and the league' top points scorer Glen Fletcher was diagnosed as requiring a knee operation which will rule him out for three months. On the credit side, however, flanker Chris Pennington will be available for Saturday's league game at Broughton Park
