PUPILS at a local school welcomed a very special visitor when African chief, Ruth Edu travelled to St Anne's Primary as part of a cultural exchange programme.
The link between the Sutton school and Chief Edu's own school, Olufunmilayo in Akure, Nigeria was first established in June when St Anne's nursery teacher, Ruth Buckley visited Nigeria to meet her namesake and take a tour of the school.
Youngsters at St Anne's had already been doing their own bit by raising more than £300 towards Chief Edu's travel expenses and they have also started a penfriend scheme with Nigerian pupils.
