CARETAKER boss Nigel Worthington is hoping his side's 1-1 draw with Rovers will be enough to help him secure the Norwich job on a permanent basis.
Former Blackpool chief Worthington was due to meet the club's board of directors after yesterday's clash at Carrow Road.
And he wants a decision one way or the other as soon as possible after what he described as a terrific point despite the fact Rovers played nearly half the game with 10 men.
"I wasn't disappointed at all by the result. It was a terrific result and a terrific performance," said Worthington.
"The work rate for 65 or 70 minutes was brilliant.
"But what you've got to remember is they are human beings.
"So I'm delighted with a point and I'm delighted with the performance.
"I think it was tiredness on our part which ultimately cost us.
"But we were positive from the outset at three o'clock in terms of the line-up we went with and it paid off and got us a goal.
"It's coming up to decision time for the board of directors so I wanted to go into it as positive as possible.
"We were determined not to let them settle on the ball and the energy and commitment the lads have put in is phenomenal.
"They are practically on their knees in there.
"So myself, Doug Livermore and Steve Foley will be going in to see the directors and we want some straight answers.
"I think it's important for the players and the football club that they get on and do the job they're expected to do.
"All I know is we've won two, drawn three and lost one of our six games in charge.
"If Terry Venables had done that he'd possibly be in the running for the Manchester United job.
"But it's only me."
QUOTE OF THE DAY: " They showed a never-say-die attitude, a resilience not to be beaten, and Marcus got a really good goal " Graeme Souness
