BURY commuters have helped boost sales of First Manchester's new weekly ticket, FirstWeek, which have exceeded all expectations.
The bus company launched the new low cost ticket in November in response to public demand.
It provides seven day travel in zones or First Manchester's complete network.
Following the introduction of the FirstWeek ticket, which cost £6.50 or £9, sales of weekly tickets increased by 23 per cent.
The launch has not impacted on First Manchester's other low cost ticket, FirstDay, with sales of the £2.50 or £2 tickets up one per cent during the same period.
Russell Gard, First Manchester's commercial director, has commented on the successful launch.
"Research recently undertaken by First Manchester indicated that bus travellers wanted a simple, low cost, excellent value for money weekly ticket.
"The increase of 23 per cent in sales following the launch of FirstWeek is clear evidence that our new ticket provides our customers with just what they want."
