CHIEF Supt Richard Taylor has called upon the readers of The Citizen to remain extra vigilant over the New Year period to help deliver a peaceful, happy and crime-free New Year.
In a special message, the Divisional Commander for Lancashire West said: "I was delighted to be given the opportunity to contribute an article to The Citizen. I strongly believe that local newspapers are one of my best and most valuable methods for communicating with people on a very local level about issues that affect them.
"I am committed to providing everyone who lives in this part of the country with the best possible policing service. I have been Divisional Commander here for several years now and each year I restate my commitment to do everything I can to ensure that every section of this community can feel safe, involved and reassured by the policing service my officers deliver. "I have been pleased to see at first hand the spirit of co-operation that exists among all our partner agencies.
"Your support is always needed, but particularly at this time of year, I would ask you to be extra vigilant.
"Sadly, there are those who would seek to spoil this time of celebration and it is important that we do as much as possible to ensure that we make this a miserable time of year for the criminal fraternity.
"If you see anything suspicious or believe you have information that could help the police detect or prevent crime, do not hesitate to contact us.
"It has already been a busy year for me and I am looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead of us all. I wish you all a peaceful, happy and crime-free New Year."
