THE owners of a caravan and shed are to be told to remove them from green belt land.
Councillors are being asked to instigate legal action for the removal of the caravan and shed from a field off Barden Lane, Reedley.
A report to a meeting of Pendle Council's Brierfield and Reedley committee on Tuesday, January 9, says there is no agricultural justification for them and if they were allowed to remain they would set an undesirable precedent in the green belt.
The report says the caravan was being used for sheltering and for drink-making purposes while the shed was used as a feed store for horses. It says they were being used for horticulture rather than agriculture.
The need for the caravan to boil water in case animals required treatment did not outweigh the strong policy objections and in any case hot water could be brought on to the site from nearby houses, councillors will be told.
The report adds that the caravan and shed looked out of place in an area of open countryside and compromised the openness of the green belt.
