Parkside Golborne U/18s 9 Blackbrook Bulldogs 19
BROOK finally overcame the challenge of Golborne, following extra time to progress to the Lancashire Cup semi-finals at Crosfields this Sunday (kick-off 11.30am).
With the heavy conditions and narrow pitch suiting a big Golborne side, the match remained scoreless at half-time.
Mark Gibson opened the scoring for Brook with a drop goal but Golborne replied with a try.
Shortly afterwards Junction Fencing man-of-the-match David Llewellyn scored in the corner from a long Mick Ledger pass and Darren Woods landed the touchline conversion.
A Woods penalty seemed to have put Brook home until a last-minute drop goal from the homesters saw extra time being required.
But an excellent try by Woods, following good handling, and a barnstorming close-range effort from Chris Holland finally saw Brook safely through.
Barry McGilvray, Holland, Scott Lyon, Mark Gibson and John Hale all had strong games for the winners.
