HOUSEHOLDERS in Rutland Street, Colne, are campaigning for a residents' only parking scheme.
They have sent a petition to Pendle Council complaining of parking difficulties because of vehicles belonging to staff and customers of businesses in Keighley Road.
Members of the Colne and district committee will be told at their meeting on Thursday, January 11, that following receipt of the petition a questionnaire had been sent to 30 residents in Rutland Street and to 42 residents in Dudley Street and Bradley Street.
The results were that 12 people in Rutland Street voted yes to residents' parking, three voted against and 15 did not reply.
Of nearby residents, 12 agreed to resident only parking in Rutland Street, seven voted no, 12 voted for their own residents' only parking, seven no and 23 did not reply.
Businesses in Keighley Road were also questioned.
One agreed to the resident only parking in Rutland Street, two against and three failed to reply.
Nearby Park County Primary School was also asked to comment.
They replied in favour of residents only parking.
Officers are recommending that in view of the disappointing response to the questionnaire they no not agree to the introduction of a residents' only parking scheme.
