A MAN who carried out a late night bottle attack has been jailed for a year.
Ian Taylor injured another man in the face after abusive remarks were made to his girlfriend and her sister by someone in the victim's group.
The injured man, Neil Culff, received a deep wound to the face and another superficial one. Taylor, 30, of Elston Avenue, Newton-le-Willows, had earlier pleaded guilty to a wounding charge.
Mr Mark Lamberty, prosecuting at Preston Crown Court, said Mr Culff had been with a group of friends in Church Street, Blackburn. Abuse from the group was directed at the defendant's girlfriend and her sister.
Taylor was upset and he outcome was that Mr Culff was struck on the cheek with a bottle.
Judge Anthony Proctor told Taylor, who had no previous convictions: "Sadly, I have come to the view there has to be a custodial sentence."
