ST Alban's Primary School in Blackburn needs a pedestrian crossing because the pupils' lives are in danger (LET, December 18).
Yet, all Councillor Ashley Whalley can offer is "government formulas" and ". . . you have to have injury accidents before you can invest the amount a zebra crossing costs."
I suggest that what headteacher Peter Keegan should do is ask some developer to build a few homes or a supermarket on the playground or school field and he would have a pelican crossing in no time at all.
Witness recent crossings installed outside Aldi/McDonalds at Ewood, Sainsbury's in Darwen and the new housing development off Bolton Road, Ewood -- all of which were well known accident blackspots.
