THE past year has been a challenging one for Scope.

With the background of more and more charities chasing fewer and fewer funds, we have had to set Scope's direction for the 21st century. In an era of tighter finances, we have set ourselves ambitious targets with our support to people with cerebral palsy, their families and carers.

One in 400 babies are born with cerebral palsy every year, but at present Scope is only able to reach half of them with its vital support. We aim to reach 100 per cent within the next five years.

And so the new year will see Scope carrying on its work to create a fairer society. To join us in that aim, your readers' donations, no matter how small, will help to make a difference to a disabled child or adult's life.

Anyone wishing to give a donation can call my colleague Azizah Aziz on (020) 7619 7296 and anyone wanting to learn more of our work can visit www.scope.org.uk and look at our services, information and campaigns.
