DISC jockey Chris Berry is bidding to beat an exhausting world record of more than 73 hours of non-stop broadcasting.
Chris, who broadcasts under the name Charlie Tuna, has been a member of Hospital Radio Burnley, based at Burnley General Hospital, for a year and will embark on his solo music marathon at 10am on March 10.
The record for the Radio DJ Marathon (Individual) category in the Guiness Book of World Records is currently held by Chelmsford Hospital Radio which broadcast continuously for 73hours 33mins last September.
He will be using the event as a fund-raiser for the radio which is run entirely by volunteers who produce and broadcast more than 20 live shows each week.
Chris said: "The station intends to sell support badges in the local community. We want as many people to get involved as possible.
"People can add their support by buying a badge costing just £1. Everyone who buys a badge with have their name put in a draw and the winner will receive £1 for every hour completed.
While the attempt is in progress we hope to have fund-raising events going on in and around the town."
Money raised will be used to help to improve the quality of the radio station's signal. It will also be used to improve a studio studios and also help recruit more presenters and ward liaison officers. A quarter of the money raised will be given to Burnley General Hospital.
