THERE is a much more successful story to report for the Ladies teams.
The 1st XI are lying second in the Premier Division behind their local rivals Springfields, and if they keep up the form shown in the last match before the break, when they beat Nelson 6-2 in the Lishman Cup tie, they should have a great chance of overtaking the leaders.
This is a well balanced team with no particular stars -- just a good blend very ably led by Michelle Singleton, in her second season at the helm. The leading scorer is Lian Atkinson with Ruth Blackburn just behind.
The 2nd XI led by the bubbly enthusiast Joanna Martin-Clarke, as so often happens, have had to give way to many 1st XI requests to replace injuries.
Nevertheless they have some good performances including two recent good wins against Chorley and Blackpool 2nd XI's. The 3rd XI have done well and are lying third in the league.
