POLICE say they are still unable to identify a woman's body found in a field near Kirkham last week.
And they are making a fresh appeal to members of the public to come forward if they have any information about the woman or her suspicious death.
To help to identify the body they have taken the unusual step of releasing an artist's impression of the mystery woman, together with a photograph of an earring she was wearing.
At around 3pm on Wednesday, December 27, a couple out for a walk discovered the half-naked body wrapped in bin bags on Spen Lane in Treals.
A post-mortem failed to pinpoint the exact cause of death and it is not known how long the body had been in the field. Some witnesses have suggested the bin bags might have been visible in the field since Christmas Eve.
The police have confirmed that they are treating the death as suspicious.
The woman is described as being an Asian lady of small build with dark hair, and aged around 40.
Det Supt Mike Arnold is heading the case and says someone must know who the woman is.
"Friends and relatives must be aware that this woman has not been home or been out to her regular haunts over Christmas," he said.
"We are appealing to anyone who has information about this lady, or the cause of her death, to come forward."
