LANCASHIRE Police authority has launched a county-wide hunt to find a new independent member.
Adverts being placed in police stations and other venues across the county, asking for people with an interest in community safety, are committed to building partnerships between the police and the public and are good communicators to get in touch.
The Police Authority works to ensure that the public receives a good standard of policing by setting targets and supporting the Chief Constable.
Dr Ruth Henig, chairwoman of the authority, said: "Being a member can be both interesting and rewarding for anybody keen to be involved in influencing the way Lancashire is policed.
"It is a position which will certainly suit anyone wanting to work closely with their local communities and with the constabulary.
"Ever since it was established, the Police Authority has played a major role in setting police targets and supporting the Chief Constable in her bid to make the people of Lancashire feel safe, involved and reassured."
Although it is keen to hear from anyone, the Authority is particularly keen to recruit a woman aged under 45, a section of the community currently under-represented on the authority.
Dr Henig added: "We want our independent members to present as wide a range of people as possible."
