BRABINS Endowed Primary School teachers, staff and pupils are working on a five-year project to transform their playing fields into an environmental wildlife haven.
The Chipping school has just received an environmental award from the Soroptimists International of Preston. Headteacher Mrs Glynis Goldsborough was presented with the Guild Shield, received from the Soroptimists' president Lynn Pickup.
To date the school has planted 50 trees, created a bog garden and meadow, and built the frame for a Willow Dome, which will hopefully begin to flourish in the Spring. Another plan for 2001 is the creation of a nature trail. Earlier in 2000 the school received the Eco School Award and can now proudly fly the Eco Flag.
