BRIAN Laws returns to Turf Moor tomorrow looking to kill off hopes of a Claret revival.
Laws launched his successful playing career at Burnley in the early eighties and while the former Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest full-back retains a soft spot for his first professional club, there'll be no love lost when Laws bids to guide his Scunthorpe United side to an FA Cup third-round shock.
The Iron boss said: "It's always nice to go back to a former club and I had some very special times there. I have always had a soft spot for Burnley and I look out for their results.
"I'm delighted that Stan Ternent has done a magnificent job and it's just unfortunate that we have to knock them out of the way to get to the next round!"
Laws tasted success when his side won at Turf Moor in the League last season and hopes that result will give his underdogs an added chance.
He said: "To the bookmakers it would be an upset and only Scunthorpe believe we can do it.
"Psychologically it gives a little advantage to the players to know that it's not a fortress there. We've been and won there which should have a positive affect, rather than the other way.
"We have nothing to fear and all the pressure is on Burnley to beat us and we will make it hard for them. But we are now in the Third Division and Burnley are in the First and since the last time we played them they have come on in leaps and bounds so we are expecting a difficult game."
Both sides go into the tie without a win in five matches but Laws hopes that Scunthorpe's poor showing against Macclesfield Town on New Year's Day will throw Burnley off the scent.
"We have been playing reasonably well up to our last home game. Burnley were there and thank God we were an absolute load of rubbish because they will have learned nothing from it," he added.
