BURY Samaritans, which dealt with an increased level of calls during the festive period, is looking for more volunteers.
Two open sessions, designed for prospective volunteers, will be held in the town next month.
The recruitment drive is being staged in order to maintain the high level of coverage which the active local branch provides.
Bury Samaritans, which has its base in the town's Knowsley Street, will be holding its open sessions on Thursday, February 1 at 7.30pm and on Saturday, February 3 at 11am.
The Samaritans offer confidential emotional support 24 hours a day by phone, e-mail, letter or face to face.
Those contacting the Samaritans get the time and space to explore their feelings and can begin to work the way forward.
Talking about problems is often the first step to sorting them out, relieving pressure and making it easier to cope.
Nationwide, the service is run by 19,500 volunteers and depends entirely on voluntary support.
Anyone wishing to volunteer can come along to either of the two sessions or telephone (0161) 764 0055 for more details.
