TWO kittens were today starting a new life after being abandoned by their mother in the freezing cold.
The shivering tots were found by tree men working at Panama's nightclub in Accrington found the pair, believed to be less than a week old, under rubbish they had placed in the car park.
The men, Alex Bamgboye, of Burnley, Mick Cookson, of Burnley, and John Hindley of Accrington, had been stripping the floor above the existing venue as part of plans to create a new nightspot.
Mick, who will run the new venue, said: "We have been piling all the rubbish up in the car park over Christmas.
"This week, we started putting it all into skips and the other two found the kittens at the bottom of the pile of rubbish."
Alex now intends to look after the tiny bundles of fluff.
He added: "They are absolutely tiny.
"They were freezing cold and they eyes were hardly open.
"There has been a stray cat hanging around but we haven't seen her for days.
"If we hadn't found them I am sure the kittens would have died."
