I AM compiling a guided ghost walk of old Blackburn, which will not only take in ghost stories, but murders and mysteries from over the years.
In my research, I have come across many heroes and villains and am very interested in four Blackburn servicemen who won the Victoria Cross -- Private James Pitts, Sergeant Major William Grimbaldeston, Lieutenant John Schofield and Lieutenant Commander Percy Dean.
Private Pitts won his VC at Ladysmith in the Boer War, the others in World War One.
I would be most grateful if readers could enlighten me with more information regarding how these four heroes gained Britain's highest military honour.
I would also like to thank the many Blackburn residents who have helped me in my research.
