CHESTER City boss Graham Barrow believes a 2-0 scoreline flattered Rovers at Ewood on Saturday.
Blackburn fans had to wait 72 minutes before Martin Taylor finally broke City's stubborn resistance.
And, though Marcus Bent then went on to add a second, Barrow believes his side's spirited performance has strengthened the case for a fairer system of promotion from the Conference to the Football League.
"There's a saying in football that you don't always get what you deserve and I think that was the case for us today," said Barrow.
"But one thing this group of players have got is character and they've set high standards for themselves here.
"We wanted to show what the Conference was all about and I think we've done that.
"The Conference has probably got a strong case now for the two up which they are looking for.
"If anyone was here from the Football League or the FA then they can't fail to have been impressed.
"Blackburn have got a Premier League squad.
"And, when I look around the pitch and see the likes of Alan Mahon and Craig Hignett, it just shows the strength they have.
"I can see them kicking on now for that second spot.
"If we'd have drawn a club like Burnley, the way they're playing at the moment you would fancy your chances.
"But when you draw a Blackburn or a Fulham, you know it's a tough task because they've currently got players who are on top of their game.
"So that just makes this all the more creditable for us because we haven't come to a struggling First Division side.
"We've played against a club who could quite possibly be back in the Premier League come the end of the season.
"So we've got to look at this and try to build on it for next year. We're a top three Conference side and we've got to prove that now."
