COURSES varying from people in medieval times to ancient civilisations and deaf awareness are being run by the Colne branch of the Workers Educational Association.
Classes at a new venue, the Nelson and Colne College Reedyford site, begin on Tuesday, January 23 with a look at medieval people in the North West.
The popular Aspects of Pendle course has been developed by tutor Dr Mary Higham into a more specific theme involving the medieval period, recent research and influential people of Pendle's past.
Another eight-session course on ancient civilisations and Mediterranean cultures starts the following evening. Tutor Maggie Simms will look at when and where civilisation began, how much we have advanced from the ideas and outlooks of ancient peoples and explore ancient society for answers.
A course on deaf awareness, lip-reading and approaches to communication starts on March 1. This course is free and will look at real life experiences and ways of coping with communication difficulties.
The other courses cost £25.60 (concession fee £20) and just £3 for people in receipt of certain benefits.
