LETS all do it together residents in Colne are being urged.
People in the Waterside and Vivary Bridge area of town are being invited to a presentation of the LETS scheme (Local Exchange Trading System) at the Waterbridge centre, Rigby Street, on Thursday.
The project, funded by Pendle Partnership through the European Regional Development Fund and the Government's Single Regeneration Budget, gives residents and community groups the chance to 'buy and sell' skills, services and goods using a cashless bartering system.
Instead of paying for goods or services, which could be anything including baby sitting, ironing, dog walking or gardening, members of the scheme trade in the official LETS currency of marbles.
Colne community enterprise outreach worker Lorna Metcalfe, explained: "Members use a directory of services or goods on offer or required and agree a price in marbles." "A balance of marbles is kept. A zero or overdrawn balance is not viewed unfavourably as it represents a promise to contribute something of similar value back into the community."
The presentation of the scheme will be explained in detail to residents at the Waterbridge Centre on Thursday at 2pm.
