BURY 0 CAMBRIDGE 1
BURY'S fans have finally run out of patience with their underachieving side, who have now won just six points from the last 39.
Boos echoed around the near empty stands as the few who turned up witnessed one of the worst football matches ever staged at Gigg Lane.
Despite their appalling display Bury contrived to miss the easiest of chances whilst allowing former Burnley full back Tom Cowan to run some 60 yards unchallenged before avoiding some half-hearted tackles and putting the ball into the net to secure the winner for the equally inept visitors. Bury manager Andy Preece agreed that the performance was very poor and sympathised with the supporters.
Nevertheless, chairman Terry Robinson is now under terrific pressure to relieve the young boss of some of his duties in favour of the newly arrived, and very experienced, Billy Ayre.
With relegation staring him in the face, the beleagured Bury supremo has little choice but to pass the poisoned chalice to Ayre.
