HIGH school pupils have proved themselves to be real bricks.

Since spring the pupils of Woodhey High School have been building their very own wonderwall, and the final brick, the 2,000th, has now been put into place.

The project was started to commemorate the millennium and encourage everyone in the school, staff and children alike, to read.

For every book read, a brick template bearing the name of the child, the title of the book and the author was laid in the wall. The first was cemented by head-teacher Martin Braidley and the last one was laid by 11-year-old Lewis Kirkham.

The wall stretches 18 feet across a school corridor. All that remains is to decide what to do with the wonderwall?
