I DON'T know whether in Coun Paul Browne's complaint about his town getting 'second-class' treatment there is a touch of the chip-on-shoulder complex that has marked many a Darrener's view of Big Brother Blackburn ever since its shotgun marriage with its larger neighbour in 1974.
But, surely, there is a touch of validity in his beef about it taking so long to illuminate Darwen Tower - now that the scheme has been hit by further delay a year after its original planned completion date.
After all, was not the late Councillor Eric Smith floating the idea of lighting up the tower nigh on 20 years ago - and yet the will and the wherewithal still seems to be missing in the town hall?
