FROM dancing in Blackpool Tower Circus to the lead role in a Greek tragedy, St Annes actress Jenna Rothwell is clearly a rising star.
Jenna, 16 and a pupil at King Edward and Queen Mary School, is gearing up to take the title role in the Greek tragedy Antigone, which tells the story of the mortal Antigone who fights the King's decision not to give one of her brothers a proper burial.
But this isn't the first time Jenna, right, has taken centre stage as she spent time over Christmas as a chorus dancer in Blackpool Tower Christmas Circus, where she also played the part of Peter Pan last year.
Jenna also starred as Maria in West Side Story at her school two years ago and is currently studying for A-levels, including theatre studies.
Speaking about her latest role, Jenna told The Citizen: "I enjoy working with the director Mr Higgins and it will be very interesting to interact with the Greek chorus who provide a commentary on the play. It will certainly be very different from my work as a dancer in the circus show."
Rehearsals for the play began shortly before Christmas and the experienced 40-strong cast includes fellow pupils Greg Coulter, Merita Crookenden and Jason Langley.
