AXA Insurance plans to appoint 60 new staff members to its Morecambe call centre on the White Lund industrial estate during the first half of this year.

As well as full-time staff the company will be recruiting part-time workers and staff to work over weekends and in the evenings.

They will join the 250 AXA staff members already working at the Morecambe centre, and will receive on-going training starting with a three-week induction course.

The company's personal communication centres enable potential customers to get quotes and buy policies over the phone. "This method has proved to be very successful and we need to attract additional people to help us meet the increasing demand for AXA policies," says David Thompson, head of personal communication centres for AXA.

New recruits will be introduced to motor sales for direct customers before moving on to household insurance, dealing with intermediaries and large corporate partners.

"We are very pleased that the increase in our employment base will provide us with an opportunity to strengthen AXA Insurance's ties with Morecambe," says David Thompson.
