Ladies 1st XI 9 Blackburn 2nd XI 2
LYTHAM Ladies got off to a flying start in the Premier Division of the Lancashire Central Hockey Association.
Although they were a goal down after two minutes Ruth Blackburn soon equalised for LSA with a well struck shot from the circle's edge. Lytham then dominated and some great play led to goals from Lian Atkinson (twice), Ruth Blackburn and Heidi Whitehead.
In the second half Whitehead scored her second and Kelly Gore added another before Blackburn scored her second. A Kelly Gore strike made it 8-2 and some excellent passing between Atkinson and Gore led to Atkinson completing her hat-trick.
THE LADIES 2ndXI were beaten 3-1 by Longridge 1st XI. Helen Beardsmore and Clare Roberts excelled in defence. Longridge led 2-0 by half-time.
Lytham came back to dominate the second half and good play by the sisters Lorna and Amy Leach led to a good penalty corner goal from Brenda Lanigan. But Longridge came back to score their third.
