Heysham Atoms A 11 Scorpions A 26
WHILE the Scorpions 1st XI match was cancelled due to their opponents Blackbrook being unable to field a team, the A team put in a good performance in completing the double over Heysham and going top of the Alliance League.
The Scorpions found themselves 5-0 down after five minutes due to a Heysham try and drop goal.
But on their first real attack Tony Green sent Danny Webster over in the corner and he converted his own try to put the Scorpions in the lead.
The Scorpions continued to dominate play in the first half and extended their lead with a solo try by Andrew Dobson.
Just before half-time Keith Slater barged over from five yards to make the score 14-5 at the break.
Man of the match scrum half Paul 'Oggie' Atkinson was playing his first game for two months due to injury and was dictating play.
And it was no surprise when the Scorpions ran in three more tries through Gary Parker, John Bond and Keith Slater.
Jason Talbot was playing his first game for two years and had an excellent game.
Heysham scored a consolation try near the end.

But Simpkin scored again for the Scorpions to produce a thrilling finale but time just ran out for the home side as they pressed for that all important winning try.
