TRIBUTES to the work of Canon Jim Duxbury, who has retired after 15 years as rector at St Leonard's parish church, Padiham, have been made by Burnley MP Peter Pike.
He said: "As rector to four churches the job was a very busy one. He had not only represented the Church well but also fought for Padiham making it clear that there was poverty and deprivation in some parts."
Mr Pike added: "He fought and secured a replacement school at Padiham Green, he led the fight for a nursery section at St Leonard's and was always willing to fight and use the system in the interests of Padiham and those he served.
"I hope he and his wife have a long and happy retirement in Clitheroe."
