PARENTS of children attending the 14 primary and nursery schools in Burnley which Lancashire County Council plans to merge on to five sites must be shocked and horrified at the proposed changes.
Where is the guarantee that the children's environment, wellbeing, happiness and sheer joy of growing up will not be affected? How much further will some children have to travel? Who will take them? Who will assure their welfare?
The minds of responsible parents will be in turmoil.
This latest sinister betrayal by the Labour-run education authority suggests that it is obsessed by change for the sake of change.
This so-called authority should crawl away and find some shame for itself.
Those fortunate enough to enjoy a sound education at all levels between two World Wars and immediately afterwards must be bewildered, saddened and in despair at what is happening, seemingly at all levels, to a country once known as England.
