I WOULD like to comment on the letter by Paul Ikin, the general manager of Scott Clinic (Dear Star, December 28) in response to Mr Peter Peers' letter (November 30).
Mr Ikin says that the Scott Clinic is a Medium Secure Unit. Yet in an enquiry into the murder at Grange Valley, Haydock in December, 1996, the Scott Clinic is described as "a Regional Secure Unit" by none other than the North Cheshire Health Authority.
They also cater for patients from Ashworth Prison Hospital which, in turn, caters for murderers on pre-release and who knows what else.
I would say, on balance, that this was the wrong place to site any kind of school.
Stan Roberts, Wharmby Road, Haydock.
