IN response to recent letters, can I say that the reason there are so few cyclists on our roads is that they are all up Holcombe Moor and on other public footpaths where they are not allowed. They cause damage to the footpaths and are a danger to walkers.
It is about time the local authority put up appropriate signs, as other authorities do, to try and ensure that public footpaths are used by walkers and not cyclists. Then we may see more cyclists using the designated cycle routes on which Bury Metro has spent or wasted so much money.
