AN ELDERLY pedestrian received serious injuries when she was hit by a bus on Wednesday night in Leigh town centre. Evelyn Grundy, 69, of Navigation Close, Leigh suffered head injuries in the collision which occured around 6pm at the King Street junction with Spinning Jenny Way, just 200 yards from her home. Yesterday her condition was described as "stable" in the Royal Bolton Hospital.
The driver of the single deck First Manchester bus, Harry Helmsley, 51, of Warrington Road, Abram, was uninjured.
