DRIVERS could face delays across Journal-land due to road works.
Telewest Ltd is laying communications ducts in Market Street and Ladies Lane, Hindley, which will involve excavating across the junction. The work will take place on two Sundays -- January 14 and 21.
Butts Street in Leigh will be closed to through traffic on Sunday to enable a crane to be sited near Volex. Work continues on Breaston Bridge, Warrington Road, Leigh -- inconvenience may be experienced at certain times.
Also in Leigh, King Street, Market Street, Market Place and Leigh Road will be affected by footpath and carriageway work in connection with the Leigh-Bolton Quality Bus Corridor and town centre enhancement works. Minimal inconvenience is envisaged.
Water main refurbishment in Tyldesley, Atherton and Abram will last several months with many streets affected.
Householders will be informed when water has to be cut off. In Golborne, carriageway and footways are being resurfaced in Church Street from January 13. The stretch affected is between Cottesmore Way and Lowton Road and temporary traffic signals will be used during the week. Resurfacing will be completed over three weekends -- January 13/14, 20/21 and 27/28 -- when the road will be closed so the work can be carried out safely.
Other carriageway and footways are being resurfaced in Lime Grove/Heathmoor Avenue, Lowton and Knowsley Avenue, Golborne. This work is scheduled to finish early next month.
