ON December 23, at 4.30 on a freezing cold morning, a small female cat found wandering in the Limefield area was brought to me. I took her in and hoped that I could get the RSPCA or the Cats Protection League (CPL) to take her off my hands.
I tried for a week to get help but the RSPCA take only sick or injured cats and I couldn't get an answer from the CPL for five days, by which time I had knocked on 30 or 40 doors.
So may I appeal to the good readers of the Bury Times to spare a thought for the local Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary when letters asking for donations to animal charities drop through their letter box. These kind people were the ones who eventually gave the cat shelter and, I hope, will eventually re-home her.
