A New Year but will we make it new?
In reply to the letter from Laurie Bullas (Dec 29) can I ask is each of us ready to start the new year in a new way?
Can we leave behind the old prejudices and seek to get on with each other by changing our own thoughts? The time for thinkers has come and is each of us is prepared to look at each other and the situations we find ourselves in in a fresh way, and then to respond in a new way, then we will find life better.
I have just watched "Scrooge" again. What happened there? He changes. The situations and people around him were unchanged but he responded in a new way and what a blessing that was for all concerned.
In just the same way we can respond to all the seemingly awful events surrounding us in a new way and that will make a difference.
For me, and echoing the words in the Bible which Queen Elizabeth used in her Christmas message this year, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" rings true and will make so much difference.
