THE Rotary Club of Prestwich and Whitefield organises and runs the Christmas Float during the few weeks leading to Christmas. Its main purpose is to raise funds that the club then directs towards various national and international charities supported by Rotary. All monies received will be distributed to charities such as Sargent Cancer Care, Marie Curie, Bury Hospice, Hope and Homes for Children, etc.
This year the float has been a resounding success raising just over £6,000.
The club first and foremost would like to thank the people of Prestwich and Whitefield for their continuing generous support of this important project. Special mention has to be made of the affiliated Interact club whose young members came with us numerous times, braving the bad weather and cheering us with their enthusiasm, as indeed did members of Probus. Finally we would like to thank Mr Carlo Bacci from Salford Van Hire; Steve Nield from Spectrum Music, Whitefield; and Kevin Skillin from Imperial Consultants, Whitefield, for their continuing support over the years.
Rotary is a service organisation dedicated to improving the quality of life for all people.
PRESIDENT JOHN WELLAVIZE,
The Rotary Club of Prestwich and Whitefield.
