REGARDING gritting, after the recent snowfall, the slope to the subway and the steps at Salford, in Blackburn town centre, were quite dangerous.
To turn back up the slope presented a more hazardous situation than continuing.
The steps presented more danger due to the need for maintenance, in addition to the ice, particularly on the top step.
The pedestrian precinct was like a skating rink in places and, together with the subway, should have had priority for gritting. The bus routes should have been gritted overnight as there was plenty of snow.
Finally, what has happened to the yellow bins that had salt and grit in them? They were a great help for dangerous road conditions.
