A MORI survey you published (LET, November 25, 1997) showed that 77 per cent of Blackburn constituents wanted Jack Straw to back a ban of fox hunting with dogs.
That figure rose to 84 per cent among Labour voters.
Sadly, but not unexpectedly, Jack Straw has chosen to ignore the views of his constituents and vote in support of bloodsports.
If he had strong personal beliefs on this issue, you could understand his position, but he claims he has not. Which begs the question, why is he so reluctant to listen to his constituents?
Mr Straw must realise that this issue will not simply disappear and will continue to take up parliamentary time until it is finally banned.
It's time to end this divisive and barbaric pastime now.
