GOOD for Wendy Western (Letters, January 8). She hit the nail on the head with her comments on Jack Straw.
He promises to be tough on crime, but it's this year, next year, sometime, never.
It does not matter which party is in power, the spineless politicians will always jump to the tune of the do-gooders, the gay-libbers, the women's-libbers, the social workers, race relations bodies, the prisoners' aid society, the ban the bomb-ers, etc.
They are the people who are running this country if we could but see it. Get rid of them and we may have a return to some form of discipline and law and order.
I boil up in anger when I read of some louts beating up old people and their social worker says they need counselling or to be sent on a safari holiday, when a kick up the backside or a caning would work wonders for them.
We will never have law and order until we get rid of the do-gooders who seem to live in cloud-cuckoo-land.
